Today, I finally got the concept art posters mailed out to the Kickstarter supporters who are getting just the posters.
Posters I got the concept art posters back from the printers today, and they look really nice. As I mentioned earlier, I printed enough for all backers, because they really didn’t cost much after the first 10 or so which were already spoken for. So, if you’ve received a survey notice, be sure to fill in your address so I can send you the poster. For those of you who selected “no reward”, I sent out a regular email — I’d still like to send you a poster. Just email me (i.e. at “digitante at gmail dot com”) an address to which you’d like me to send it.
Thanks to the support of some very generous backers, we are now able to commission Daniel Fu for the character design artwork. Work will start in January!
Wow! That was really, really exciting! May all of our cliff-hangers be this good. We cleared 100% with just 8 MINUTES to spare thanks to some last minute heroics from some of you — you know who you are. Thank you and Happy Holidarys! (I will post again tomorrow after I get some sleep). Terry Hancock
Well, we’re at 80% with just over 3 HOURS left to go. It’s just possible that something amazing could happen to get us through the next $475 of fund-raising. If any of you have got friends waffling over pledging, this is the LAST CHANCE to get those in. I want to say thank you to all the new backers, to the old backers who’ve stuck with us, and to the few who raised their pledges in the last few hours to get us this close to our goal. And I’d especially like to thank The Luna Project ( http://lunarcc.org ) for backing us with a $200 organizational logo sponsorship earlier today.
Here’s an alternate design for the Concept Art Poster, which looks more like a “group photo”. Layout by Rosalyn Hunter. Tell us which you like better. I’ve also indicated where the crease-line will fall on folded posters (although, so far we haven’t got any requests for those yet).
Now that all of the inked and painted character portraits are finished, I am putting together the Concept Art Poster. This is missing only a few elements. The circles at the bottom show the locations for the “Logo Sponsorship” placement. I’ve moved the “Lunatics” logo up to the top. This is very close to the poster you will receive if you’ve requested it ($8, $15, $25 levels — see the descriptions for details). Character Drawings are by Daniel Fu. Digital ink & paint and poster layout are by Terry Hancock.
“Logo Sponsorships” Now Just $200 I have just reduced the “sponsorship” reward from $400 to $200, as there is now much less of a gap to close. I also limited the sponsorships to four, which increases the visibility of each one. For that money, we’ll include your name and logo prominently on this project: There is just 12 HOURS in which to sign up for this, though! So act fast, if you’re going to do it.
Wow! We are past the halfway mark today. I’m really pretty excited by that. Each of you probably has a circle of friends who may not have heard about this project, so if you each were to get a friend or two to back it as well, we might just make it before the deadline tomorrow night. I’ve also just added a new $8 level for which I can send out folded copies of the Concept Art Poster. That’s both because we’ve already offset the cost of the first few prints, and because they are much cheaper to ship folded.
If the $15/$25 poster reward seems too high, you might be interested in this: we can send you the same poster for just $8 if we fold it for shipping. After the first few are printed, additional copies of the Concept Art Poster don’t cost much to print, and so the main expense is the cost of shipping a mailing tube. This is especially true for international addresses. However, if I just fold the 11″ x 17″ sheet in half to 8.5″ x 11″ , it will ship in a standard-size document envelope, and this is really inexpensive for both USA and International addresses.
Twenty people have contributed to our project, and as we are approaching the end of this campaign, I want to take a moment to say ” Thank you! ” to you all for pitching in! I was pretty nervous about putting this Kickstart up — although I’ve had some success with projects and art, money has never been a real comfort area for me. And when we started working on Lunatics, we were pretty much working in a complete vacuum. It’s very hard to have any idea if anyone cares what you’re doing. We knew we really enjoyed what we were coming up with, but we didn’t know if it would be clear to other people.
I’ve reduced the prices on the original concept artwork sheets drawn by Daniel Fu by 50%. I’ve also made each one a separate reward, so you can pick which one you get. And I will include with each one a copy of the full-color concept-art poster, which includes portraits of all eight of the main characters, digitally inked and painted by me (I’ve been posting examples of these portraits as updates as I finish them).
