In 2009, I was finishing up my book “Achieving Impossible Things”, in association with my column in Free Software Magazine.
I had also worked as a News Editor for LinuxUser & Developer Magazine in 2005-2006. And in the process, I had covered a number of open projects, including the Blender Foundation’s Open Movie Projects, Nina Paley’s “Sita Sings the Blues”, and the “Morevna Project”. I had also worked on an art-focused game project “The Light Princess” in the early 2000s. All of these experiences led to the inspiration to start an Open Animation project for “Lunatics!”
The story for “Lunatics!” dates back to some inspirations from “International Space Development Conference” (ISDC) meetings from 1999 to 2007, and our discussions over topics of space settlement and the culture of people interested in it.
